How to Copy TikTok Comments — One Comment or the Whole Section at Once (2026)

Get every comment from any TikTok — free

Free — first 100 comments of any post, no signup. CSV, Excel & JSON.

To copy TikTok comments one at a time, press and hold a comment in the TikTok app and tap Copy, or open the video on tiktok.com in a computer browser and highlight the comment text. To copy every comment on a video at once, paste the video link into a TikTok comment downloader, download CSV, Excel or JSON, and copy the text column from the file. The first 100 comments need no signup and no login.

We run the downloader this guide ends on, so we see daily what happens when someone tries to copy a busy comment section by hand. Below is each method, what it is good for, and where it stops working.

Copy one TikTok comment in the app

This is the quickest route when you want one comment for a message or a note:

  1. Open the video and tap the comment icon to bring up the comment sheet.
  2. Press and hold the comment you want. A menu slides up.
  3. Tap Copy. The text is now on your clipboard.
  4. Paste it into Notes, a chat or an email.

The same menu also holds options such as reply, report and, for your own comments, delete. TikTok rearranges it between versions, so the order you see may differ. TikTok's own help page on comments describes the current comment controls.

Two limits worth knowing. The copy takes the text only: the username, like count and date stay behind, so note them yourself if they matter. And it copies one comment per press. There is no multi-select in the comment sheet.

Copying TikTok comments on a computer

On a laptop, open the video on tiktok.com. The comments sit in a panel beside the video. Click and drag across the comment text, then press Ctrl+C on Windows or ⌘+C on a Mac.

A browser lets you select more than one comment at a time, which sounds like the answer to bulk copying. In practice the selection picks up everything in between: usernames, "Reply" buttons, like counts, timestamps and "View replies" links. You end up cleaning the pasted block line by line. Depending on your region and the video, TikTok may also ask you to log in before it shows the full comment panel.

A neat trick for a handful of comments: paste with Ctrl+Shift+V (⌘+Shift+V on a Mac) into Google Docs. Pasting as plain text strips the page styling, though the buttons and counts still come along as words.

People often want to point someone at a comment rather than quote it, for a moderation report, a support ticket or a colleague. TikTok does not give comments their own stable public link in most versions of the app. What you can copy is the link to the video:

  • From the app: tap Share, then Copy link. You get a short link that looks like vt.tiktok.com/… or vm.tiktok.com/….
  • From a browser: copy the address bar. A video looks like tiktok.com/@user/video/1234567890; a photo carousel post uses /photo/ in place of /video/.

Send the video link with the commenter's username and the first few words of the comment, so the other person can find it. Both the short links and the full links work when you paste them into the downloader later; short links are resolved to the full address before anything is fetched.

Why copying by hand stops at a few dozen comments

Copying five comments takes a minute. Copying the comment section of a busy video is a different job, for four reasons.

The list never finishes loading

TikTok loads comments in batches as you scroll. Selecting the page grabs only the batch that has loaded, and on a video with thousands of comments you scroll for a long time before reaching the end. The order is ranked, not chronological, so it is hard to tell whether you skipped or repeated one.

Replies are folded away

Answers to a comment sit behind a "View N replies" link, and long threads open a few replies at a time. Every one has to be expanded before you can copy it, and the expanded replies push the rest of the list down the page.

Some comments have no text

TikTok lets people comment with a photo or a sticker. Those comments have nothing to select and nothing to copy. If you are counting entries or collecting reactions, they disappear from a hand-copied list.

Emoji and formatting break

Emoji, accented letters and non-Latin scripts sometimes turn into boxes or question marks when pasted into older apps, and mentions lose the link to the account they tag.

At ten seconds per comment, 500 comments is well over an hour, and you still have no likes, dates or replies alongside the text.

Copy the whole comment section in one go

The bulk method downloads the comments into a file, and you copy from the file:

  1. Copy the video link (Share, then Copy link).
  2. Paste it into the TikTok comment downloader. The comment count shows in a few seconds.
  3. Leave replies off for top-level comments only, or tick the replies option to include the answers under each comment.
  4. Download CSV, Excel or JSON.
  5. Open the file and select the text column, or the whole sheet, and copy.

Every comment is one row, with these columns first: author, username, text, likes, replies, created_at, language, is_pinned, id, reply_to_id and avatar_url. TikTok files also carry image_url and image_type, so photo and sticker comments are rows like any other, with the picture link where the text would be.

When replies are included, each reply gets its own row and its reply_to_id points to the comment it answers. Sort by that column and every thread lines up under its parent, ready to copy as one block. The first 100 comments are top-level comments with no signup; longer sections and replies need a one-time payment, never a subscription. With paid access you can also paste up to 20 video links at once and download them together.

Where to paste: Sheets, Docs and AI chats

  • Google Sheets: import the CSV with File → Import (Google's import guide covers the options), or open the Excel file in Sheets. Columns stay aligned, so you can sort by likes and copy the top comments. Our TikTok comments to Google Sheets guide has filters and formulas.
  • Google Docs or Word: copy just the text column and paste as plain text for one comment per line, with no table borders.
  • ChatGPT, Claude or Gemini: attach the CSV instead of pasting thousands of lines. Assistants read a file more reliably than a long pasted block, and the likes column lets you ask for the most-liked questions or complaints.
  • Slides and reports: filter to the comments you want, then copy text and username together so each quote keeps its source.
  • Code and databases: the JSON download keeps every field per comment, which is easier to load than a pasted list.

Photo, sticker and emoji comments in a copied list

These three are where hand copying and a downloaded file differ the most.

Photo and sticker comments are skipped by a long press, because there is no text. In the file, image_type says photo or sticker and image_url holds the link. TikTok signs those links and they expire after a while, so save any picture you need instead of keeping the link. Our guide to saving pictures from TikTok comments covers that step.

Emoji-only comments copy fine from the file because the CSV is UTF-8. If they show as boxes, open the file in Google Sheets or a recent version of Excel rather than an old text editor. Filter out rows of three characters or fewer before you paste a block into a document or an AI chat; they add length without adding meaning.

Mentions stay in the text as @username, so a contest that asks people to tag friends can be counted with a formula on the text column.

Notes from running a TikTok comment exporter

This guide comes from operating the TikTok downloader. In the 90 days to 30 October 2026 we completed more than 8,900 TikTok downloads. In a sample of about 99,000 comments from our most recent TikTok files:

  • About 13% of rows had no text at all. Around 5 to 6% were photo or sticker comments; the rest were blank for other reasons. A hand-copied list misses every one of them, which matters most when you are counting entries.
  • About 7% were three characters or fewer, mostly emoji and single words. Worth filtering before you copy for reading or summarising.
  • Roughly 7% of top-level comments had replies. Few, but those threads are usually where the actual conversation happens, and they are exactly what a long press cannot reach.

Replies are off by default because most people copying a section want the top-level comments, and including them can multiply the row count. The column names, the photo/sticker columns and the first 100 comments with no signup are the live product values. What you may do with copied text is governed by TikTok's Terms of Service, copyright in the commenter's words, and privacy law such as the GDPR.

Before you share copied comments

Copying for your own notes is routine. Publishing what you copied is a separate decision. A username next to a quote identifies a real person, so in slides and reports quote short extracts, drop usernames unless the account is a brand or public figure, and keep the full file private. Never use a comment list to message people who did not ask to hear from you.
