We only read data that X already shows to anyone visiting the post logged out — no private accounts, no DMs, no protected posts. Public data collection is broadly lawful (see hiQ v. LinkedIn), but X's own Terms of Service govern what you may do with the data, so read them and stay within them, especially before republishing.

No. There is no notification, no view record and no interaction with the post. Exporting does not like, follow, reply, or leave any trace on your account or theirs.

X stores the @mentions of everyone being answered inside the reply text. The clean export strips that leading run so the column reads as the actual message; the raw export keeps the text exactly as posted.
